The shaft assembly torque limiter was designed by Yamaha to dampen the shock load on the front differential. The idea is that when overloaded, the clutches in the torque limiter would slip and keep the front differential from breaking. The torque limiter is located in the front of the transmission, and can be removed in the car by removing
